Engine & Drivetrain The engine in our T-Bird is equipped with the desirable D code option which offered a 312 cubic inch V8 engine with the 4-barrell carb which had become the Thunderbirds standard engine, and now produced 245 horsepower in 1957 which was more horsepower than most other small block V8s of the time.
